It is not like it is that hard. Anyway, i wanted to write a quick update for everyone. This year i am again riding with Erion, but in a little more formal agreement. I get to ride out of the team big rig, and we are doing the west coast races. I am trying to focus on riding smoother and more consistent. I will be racing the Daytona Sportbike class and so far have raced Fontana and Infineon. This weekend coming up i will be doing the Supersport class at the WSB round in Miller. In addition, i have been doing a few clubs to try and sharpen my race craft. Anyway, ill check in after Miller and try and get back to doing this on a more consistent basis! Thanks to my dad and mom and Kevin Erion and John Ethal, as well as everyone else who has been such a help to me. The weekend was going smoothly up until the Supersport race, where my front tire got taken out going into turn one causing me to go over the high side. My weekend wasn't all that bad though because in the Daytona sportbike race I had my best finish yet, which was 15th, so I'm pretty stoked with that. Seeing the motoGP guys run at Laguna has really motivated me even more, so i have been training really hard lately so i can hopefully better my finishes because ill be in better shape. Thank you guys from reading, ill be updating soon

Road America!!!

Hey everyone,

Well I am updating this after Road America. I finally had a better weekend, but not one that I am still pleased with. To start things off, I was sick all weekend and just not feeling well. I am not sure if it was the airplane ride or what, but that kinda sucked.

Going into the weekend, I was pretty amped on doing well, and especially with it being the whole east west shootout, I wanted to prove that I could get some results. My speed came on pretty well, and by Friday (we did a track day on Thursday) I was feeling pretty good, but only on the track.

In the Daytona Superbike race, I scored some points, and that was a big highlight for me. My dad, despite the rain, told me to just go out there and ride the bike and not worry about crashing. So that’s what I did, and it worked out. I was in the points and in the money!

On Sunday, I pulled out of the Daytona Sportbike race as I was just too run down and tired and wanted to concentrate everything I had, energy wise on the Supersport race.

On the start, I got punted off the track by Huntley Nash. It wasn’t a big deal, as it was just one of those racing things, but I was pretty bummed out. I realized that it was just one of those racing things, and I just put my head down, and pushed hard. I forgot about everything else. I ended up finishing 7th, which given the circumstances, I was happy with. My times 2.26’s, which would put me in the top5, easily. I think I could have gotten top three, but who knows.

Anyway, we are onto Laguna. Bring it on!

Infineon and beyond....

Hey guys,

Well, not much to say about the weekend. I had a bad weekend and a few crashes, and I was really not that happy about things. After my last crash in Saturday’s Supersport race, I really wadded up the bike pretty bad. I was pissed and upset with myself. The heat was kind of a problem, and I had some arm pump. It was certainly hotter up there than what I am used to in Southern California.

I wanted to thank my dad and Martin for getting the bike back together and for getting things sorted so I could race, I couldn’t do it without there support. Not much else to say, I am just kinda bummed out about the whole thing. I still have the points lead for the West Coast, so thats cool.

There is one good thing to come of it (well, aside from learning, which I seem to do everytime I ride). Today is Monday and I am riding at Laguna Seca. I was already scheduled to do a track day at the place, and fortunately, I can get some riding time on the bike with no hassles. I just want to ride through this down time and feel comfortable again, and that is my plan. Its just Martin, me and my Mom today, and I am looking forward to kicking it old school and just riding.

Thanks for reading and I am getting on the bike now!

Profile video

Honda was cool enough to do this profile video on me!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Zl7wDOplGk

Check it out...

Barber - and the twister that never came....

Hey guys, just wanted to give you an update on what ive been doing. I am getting to this a little later than I should be, but hey, better late then never! Computers are not really my thing, so I am little slow with doing this stuff. Anyway, We had a up and down weekend at Barber, My lap times were pretty good and I had a good race going with Mike Beck, Russ Wikle, Shawn Higbee, Dustin Dominguez and I think Ricky Parker was in front of me also. On about the 17 lap or so I had a good rhythm going and all of a sudden I was sliding down the track on my back…it was just one of those deals. I think I know why but I still can’t be sure…live and learn though!

So that was it end of the race for me - and no points. Also, it was kinda cool, Sunday was the first time I have ever heard sirens for Tornado warnings, we were on the grid when the AMA came up and said everyone needed to go to the garages and take shelter. That was pretty crazy.

After the tornado passed (it didn’t hit us but went around us), it was raining hard and they sent Supersport out to practice then line up to race. My Dad, Martin and Kevin Erion said if it was raining it was not a good idea to race. They said it was not the time and place to learn to ride in the rain, and having crashed Saturday my dad said we do not need to have another bike to repair, so I watched from the sidelines. While this was hard for me to swallow, I cant say I don’t disagree. I really wanted to race but my west coast series is the one I am trying to win and it starts up again this weekend, and so running at Barber was more about track time and gaining experience.

I am looking forward to racing this weekend at Infineon, The track is fun and I tested there recently, the racing in Supersport will be tough as usual but I am going to try and put my Honda up front and get it on the box. See you soon and come say hi at the track.

-Tyler

mid week update before Barber

Hey everyone, its been a little while since my last post. I thought it was time to pop up and send a message to all my sponsors and let ‘em know whats going on. Since Road Atlanta I have just been chilling, doing mainly school work and training. I went down to Josh Hayes house a few weeks ago and hung out with him, that was a blast. We road some bikes (the pedal ones) and also did some Motocross. I had fun on the Motocross bike and forgot how much I really liked those things. My dad doesn’t like me to ride them all that much, but I think I might try and spend more time in the future on them.

This past weekend we had a huge bike ride out of our area in Torrance. We all rode to the beach and met up with a bunch of people, including Jeff and some of the Alpinestar guys, as well as Josh Hayes and Steve Rapp. There were about 30 of us in total, it was pretty crazy. My dad is getting into the cycling thing pretty good, and I think I need to start stepping that portion of my training up. Aside from that, I am getting ready for Barber. Martin left on Sunday in the motorhome with the bike and we will be flying in on Thursday. I am looking forward to Barber and have ridden there before, although riding only one class is a bit of a drag. Well, thanks for reading and check this out over the weekend for updates.

Later!
Tyler

Road ATL!

Hey guys just wanted to update you guys on the weekend, I am only racing Daytona Sportbike this weekend because it is a east coast round and the Supersport class is split into east and west. Martin and Yargus drove the rig out last week and my mom, dad, and I flew out on Thursday morning. It was a great flight, we flew Delta so we got to enjoy some TV on our flight. It was hard learning this track because I have never been here and it was also damp in morning practice on Friday and qualifying was the session after that. I did not qualify very well which killed me in the race, but I ended up bettering my position from qualifying in round one out here. I qualified 34th and I ended up 25th in the race, I also bettered my best lap time by a second. To go a long with the brake issues I went down twice, once in practice and once in qualifying. During my Supersport race Dustin Dominguez walked away from the field. I had a great battle for the third with Clint Shobert but I unfortunately overshot the chicane down the back straight and lost him with about 3 laps to go, but i still held 4th. In both of the Daytona Sportbike races I had a good run going but I unfortunately ran into mechanical issues in both of the races and was unable to finish. Now I'm back to my training routine and waiting for Road Atlanta where I will only be running the Daytona class. This is my first post, and what a crazy time it has been. We went to Daytona and I managed to win my first race. What a crazy deal! I was super happy, and even more happy for the guys around me, like my Dad, Mom and Martin, as well as the Yarg man. Those guys made it happen for me. I am just getting familiar with this webstuff, and will come back and post as much as I can. For now, though, i am getting ready for Fontana, which is my home track. I hope it comes together for us again and that i can continue with some winning. Also, my boy Clint Shobert is coming out from Texas to stay with us and I am looking forward to that, and doing some training with him. Should be fun. Check back here every couple of days and i will see you at the track.
